About Kindermusik

Discover the difference--Each Kindermusik class is a world of discovery and adventure for children newborn to age 7.  In every class, you'll witness your child's developmental evolution in language skills, literacy, listening, problem solving, social skills, self-esteem and musicality.  And it all happens within a nurturing environment--full of energy, imagination, music, movement and playful delight.

"I have to say I was a skeptic in the beginning, but just seeing how much Olivia has gotten out of Kindermusik the last two years is amazing.  She's still singing "Rap, Rap, Rap, and Build Myself a House!" and the other day I heard her over the monitor in her sister Aubrey's room singing her "The Goodbye Song"!  It makes me smile every time I hear her singing and doing stuff from class!!  She was even just going thru the last book making me find the items in the house!!  Too cute!!  Thanks again for everything.  You are a wonderful teacher!!"  --Tori Sadnick, Mother of Olivia, age 3

Each Kindermusik class includes several important components.  Singing and rhymes are used to develop language skills, encourage expressive vocal use, nurture the development of pitch, and increase awareness of the sounds and rhythms in speech.  Movement, including free dance, patterned movement, and musical movement (stories) provides the physical experience which children need to explore the understand abstract concepts, allows expression of emotion in self and in the music, builds coordination, and assists in growing skills.  Instrumental play nurtures awareness of sound quality or timbre, allows individual exploration of ways sound is produced and how that sound can be modified, develops steady beat, and gives a basis for play as part of an ensemble.  Early literacy is developed through active involvement in storytelling.

Every Kindermusik semester comes with a set of At Home Materials. Each includes a carrying bag or box, one or two literature component books, a CD for listening to at home or in the car, an age appropriate instrument, and an activity book.  The classroom learning continues at home when you set aside time each day with your child to read, do unique, creative activities, or listen to music - all using the At Home Materials.

We believe that the family is the most important educator for the young child, and that they must be involved both as an active participant and co-educator in order for a child to flourish in any early learning endeavor. We also believe that every child has the ability to find fulfillment in music, and that offering the proper environment early on develops the foundation for later confidence and success in more formal music training.

As your child grows, Kindermusik understands the development process taking place. We also want you to understand that process, because when a child's learning needs are best understood in the classroom and at home, Kindermusik can foster all aspects of your child's development while developing a natural sense of musical appreciation and capability.
